DIRECTOR'S NOTES

12:36 evolved from fear. Fear of time and new environments. Jake's feeling of fear happens to all of us in a new place. So what's more frightening is the fact that the room you move in is really haunted and you're capturing every frightening moment with your camera phone. The goal was to make the audience realize that something was up. With the creepy landlady to the alarm clock going off at 12:36. Especially that alarm clock. Each of us hate hearing our alarm clock go off. But the effect I wanted in this film is that every time it reached 12:36, the audience would feel tense and uncomfortable not only that the sound is bothersome, but that something is guaranteed to occur once Jake turns it off. Sound effects play a major factor in the short. With every echoed voice and footstep allowed me to play with different sounds and manage the emotion to each scene. My cast was able to convey great performances all the way to the frightening end. Special Effects were fun to apply to the ghost's visitations. With the film being done as POV style, it allowed me to quickly edit from one shot to the other effortlessly. My goal is that audience members may experience this journey with tension and excitement. I'm sure after hearing the voice ask "What time is it" that audience members will glance at their alarm clocks and hope it doesn't go off on it's own.
